Lunch Lady and the League of Librarians by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2009.
Graphic novel. Ages 9-12.
Booktalk: There’s a smack-down in the library! Pass it on! The League of Librarians want to rule the world (and destroy all electronic games), but the Lunch Lady is tougher. Get to the Book Fair for the showdown!
Note: This graphic novel series involves the main character, Lunch Lady who secretly fights crime. The Breakfast Bunch of three students discover the secret identity of the Lunch Lady and join in solving crimes. In this case, the “bad guys” are the League of Librarians who wish to destroy all electronic games. This crime seems a bit far-fetched and confusing, but the plot revolves around a Book Fair that is secretly designed to allow the characters from “The Three Little Pigs,” “The Call of the Wild” and the “The Black Stallion” to materialize in order to save the X-Station 5000. Or something like that. For the rest of the series, check the author’s link at the top of this review.
